Of all the weeks I've spent with Deedy, these two have been the fullest and definitely the fastest! When I arrived on July 4th, a friend picked me up at the airport and we met Deedy, Leonard, Pauletta, Steve and another dear friend from OKC, Melba, at a wonderful restaurant between Tahlequah and Wagoner, The CaneBrake. We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed the entire evening. The next morning Pauletta took Deedy to church and prepared to leave for Chicago, returning in 4 weeks.
My daughter Alison arrived on Monday from Colorado with her children, Maddie and Josh. She then planned and prepared for a family get together on Tuesday. We used this opportunity to celebrate July birthdays. Leonard managed the grill and Alison basically did everything else. There were 21 of us, including Mother! It was great fun for Deedy to see everyone, including her other niece Susan and her 3 children, her nephews Brian and Brad with their wives and children, plus Jennifer and her two children came from Jenks. Thank you Alison for renting the tables and chairs and all the work you did - it was a great evening!
Physical therapy and occupational therapy are going well and Deedy continues to work hard. She also attended a PEO meeting and had no problem getting into the hostess's home. We also made our first trip to Walmart. (She said she hasn't missed it one bit!). Friday night we attended the local "River City Players" production. She had volunteered as a ticket taker in the past and appreciated just being a guest at the show. Thank you Etter for her ticket.
You probably know that since Deedy's accident, she has suffered with very cold hand and feet. We've tried medications and massage and have decided to also try acupuncture. She had her second visit with the acupuncturist on Friday. He thinks it may take four treatments to determine if this will help. She hasn't felt any improvement yet, but we still have high hopes. This is the single thing that is the most frustrating to her so we will try anything!
The three sisters are so glad that we have been able to help during the last several months. We have also been looking for a personal care assistant to help out. We've found someone we hope will work and she will be helping out at least 2 days a week for a while. If you are ever available to take Deedy to therapy or her doctor appointments let us know. She could use your help.
Thanks for checking in again!
