Posted by Pauletta

We apologize that it has been a while since we posted an update, but the days are full and all is well. Beverly was quite puny during Chris's last week with her, but after attributing it to severe side effects from a new medication, it did not take long for us to just stop the medication (okay, okay, we DID call the doctor first!) and she is much, much better! This medication was yet another try to ease the pain and coldness in her hands. Acupuncture did not work either, but she is willing to try almost anything.

Pauletta arrived Sunday and Chris went home for some much needed rest for her back. Also arriving on Sunday was June Murray, Beverly's long-time good friend from California, and former nursing colleague. She is now retired to "the desert" in southern California (where she and her husband Bill golf more than Pauletta and Steve!) Until she left early this morning, we kept her busy with trips to therapy, visits to Mom and lunches out. The rest of the time, they caught up on old times/friends and June was a tremendous help with exercises on the mat and soothing backrubs.

Tonight, Beverly hosted her Book Club meeting here at the house. (They call themselves "The Pearls".) There were nine people present, they brought a wonderful dinner, and enjoyed the discussion of "90 minutes in Heaven". I forgot to take a picture, but will next time!

We are busy preparing for Mom's 90th birthday party which we are celebrating on August 16 at 2:00pm in the Magnolia Room at the First Baptist Church in Tahlequah. We are so happy that all five of her children will be in attendance. Also, Beverly is excited that her grandson Christopher is arriving on August 14 for ten days, for a visit before he starts college.

Please continue to pray that we can find the right person to hire as a PCA (Personal Care Assistant) for Beverly. Leonard is putting the finishing touches on the garage apartment which could be used as part compensation.

Beverly sends her love and thanks for checking in!
