I had a marvelous time when Ken and Nelly and Chris and Samantha were here. The week went by way too fast. Then I was sick for about three weeks. So I had another excuse for not getting on my MOTOmed and not working out on my exercise mat. I finally went to my doctor, he gave me a shot of Rocephin and another round of antibiotics. I am feeling much better now.

Pauletta is here to spend two weeks with me. We have been going and doing things and the time is passing very fast. We have gone to see Mom practically every day and we took her to church on Sunday.

We went to the movie, “ Eat, Pray, Love”. Susan and Tim went with us. We have rented a couple of movies to watch at home. I had a lot of paper work to do that I had just been putting aside until Pauletta got here to help me with it, so we got caught up with all that. We also cleaned out my closet and took lots of clothes to the charity “Help-In-Crisis”. My book club is meeting at my house tomorrow night and Pauletta is making her wonderful pizza. Wednesday Pauletta is going with me to a doctor's appointment in Muskogee, and then on Thursday we have a birthday party to go to. We did do a little bit of shopping, and I decided that because I cannot do anything “wild and crazy” I would get some wild and crazy shoes.

Pauletta took me to Muskogee last Thursday to hear an inspirational speaker at the VA hospital. His name is Scott Chesney, and he suffered a spinal cord injury at the age of 15 (he is now 40 years old) and has become a nationally-known inspirational speaker. I enjoyed his speech very much. There was a reporter there from the Muskogee Daily Phoenix. After the speech the reporter wanted to interview me and just ask a few questions about what I thought of the speaker and he asked about my accident and how I am now. The next day to my surprise there was a big article in the newspaper, mostly about me. There was a big picture of me and just a small picture of Scott. I was kind of embarrassed. Pauletta thinks it is pretty hot in Oklahoma. When we left the hospital in Muskogee, Pauletta took a picture of the car thermometer:

Last Saturday my friend Roberta Jones had a brunch at her house for several of us “old” nurses who used to work together at Tahlequah City Hospital. Each of us had survived a catastrophic event. One had breast cancer, another a brain tumor, and another lung cancer. We are survivors! It was so nice of Roberta to celebrate us. It was wonderful to get together and go out and be with people I had not seen for several years. Thank you Roberta! (Also thank you for telling me about the Scott Chesney presentation.)

Thanks for checking in on me and for your continued prayers and good wishes.
