HAPPY 2011!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday.

December was a great month. Pauletta and her husband Steve were here for a week and prepared some wonderful meals, and her Tahlequah family joined us several times during that week. Chris has started a new job in Texas but she was able to come up for a short visit. Then Janie and her husband Gary were here for a week, pampering me with facials and a haircut. She also took me and Mom for manicures and pedicure. We were all able to spend some time with Mom and she enjoyed getting to see all of her kids, although not at the same time.

I got to see my son Ken and his wife and kids but not in person. We were able to Skype several times last week. I am so glad to have Skype and to be able to see them often. It is like we're really together! Samantha is growing up so fast and turning into a wonderful young lady. She loves talking to her Grandma and always makes me laugh.

Even though people don't send as many Christmas cards as in the past, I think I got a Christmas card from every one of you! Thanks for remembering me at Christmas. Thanks also for the beautiful Christmas wreath and table decoration and for the cozy gifts.

Another special gift I received was a "private" parking space at my church! This will make it so much easier for my driver, since we now have our own reserved space close to the door!
Now I'm getting ready for the New Year and am anxious to see what will be in store for me. One of my New Year's Resolutions is to work out more often on my Motomed. After all, my goal is to ride enough miles to reach from Tahlequah to Fremont, CA. At that point I will have 'earned" my next trip out there.

Janie thinks I need a new challenge so has offered to drive me in my van to Palm Springs to see Pauletta. It looks like a 24-hour drive which we hope to do in just two days. The place they have rented is wheelchair accessible. My friend June Murray also lives in the area and I may spend time in her home. My dear friends Kathi and Sue plan to drive down from Fremont to visit while I'm there. It will be a great trip and hopefully I'll see warmer weather than in Oklahoma. We plan to leave Tahlequah around January 28th.

My "therapist" Allen has been visiting me more often and helping me with "occupational therapy", meaning the use of my hands and other necessary functions. We've been playing cribbage and dominos and I'm getting pretty good. Stop by the house and I'll challenge you to a game!

Thank you again for your friendship, encouragement and prayers. Hope you have a wonderful 1011!

  4. I just did a mapquest for the trip: 1420 miles in 21 hours! We can make it, and make it fun!

  5. So good to read your recent blog Deedy, sounds like you have got it together and have some good plans for 2011! I tried to get over there more, but didn't. I don't like this cold either, and when I get out too much, I get a sinus infection. I like to play dominos, but know nothing about cribbage! So I'll come play a game with you soon! Love ya dear friend!

  8. You and your mother both look so beautiful. I'm so glad you were able to spend quality time with your families. You will have to teach me how to use Skype. I'll be over to play a new Dominoes game I bought. It's a little different than the regular game. See you soon. Love ya, Norma
