To Chicago.....

I am leaving Sunday, April 17th for Chicago, and will probably be there for several weeks.  I will be meeting with a renowned urologist discussing a surgery called “Mitrofanoff”.  This will hopefully eliminate my need for an indwelling catheter.  Assuming I am a candidate, the surgery will be within a week of my arrival and the hospital stay may be up to 10 days.  After that time I will be recuperating for a couple of weeks at Pauletta’s house in Libertyville, IL.  Janie and Gary are flying here and then driving me in my van to Chicago.  Pauletta and Steve’s dear friends, Harry and Debra, have already constructed a ramp so I can enter their home, and another dear friend, Charlie, has already delivered a hospital bed for me to use while I’m there.  Pauletta is busy preparing things for my extended stay.

This has taken a lot of coordination as you can imagine and I’m so eager for the surgery.  (We could not find a doctor in Oklahoma who has performed this surgery on adults, so Northwestern University Memorial Hospital in Downtown Chicago is my best option.)  Pray that I am a good candidate for the surgery and that everything goes well.  I will be so happy to throw away that troublesome catheter!!

While I am in Chicago I will have access to my email from Pauletta’s computer and will take my cell phone with me.

If you have driven by my house lately you may have noticed some improvement in parking.  Leonard was able to find a contractor to extend the parking area near the garage.  This is making it much easier to park the van.  But this is only Phase I.  Leonard is still hoping to have a circle drive poured so I will be able to get closer to the ramp and front door, especially on cold and rainy days.  Thank you, Leonard!

You will hear from me again after my successful surgery!
