Happy New Year!

When is it too late to say "happy new year"?  I have been intending to write an update ever since the 1st of January but every day I keep putting it off.
I had a very nice Christmas celebration. It was the first time in I don't know how many years that all five of us" kids" were together at Christmas and we were so blessed to have Mom with us too. On Saturday before Christmas my niece Alison (Janie's daughter) from Colorado and her husband and two kids and a friend were here. Chris brought Mother here in the afternoon.  Leonard’s sons, Brian with his wife Denise and daughter Serena, and Brad with his wife Amy and son Sawyer, and Pauletta’s daughter Susan with her husband Tim and two of her kids, Levi and Sarah, were all here for dinner. Leonard grilled 24 hamburgers!  It was great having everyone together for dinner to celebrate Christmas.  I really missed my son Ken and his family, Nellie, Chris and Samantha.  On Christmas Eve the five of us with Janie's husband Gary, and  Pauletta’s husband Steve, had a wonderful dinner with baked ham and all the typical side dishes. We exchanged gifts and then sang Christmas songs and we were so thrilled that Mom remembered the words and sang along with us.

Because of the flu epidemic I have been avoiding crowds and staying at home most of the time. I don't want to get the flu but I especially don't want to get sick and miss my next great adventure.  In February I am going on a Caribbean cruise. Janie planned this cruise so we could drive to Galveston and take my lift along so it will be much easier getting in and out of bed. We've also invited my caregiver Lori to go with us; it will make it much easier on Janie this time. When I mentioned to my friends Sue and Kathi that we were going they decided they wanted to go too and their sister Sharon will be joining us. When I mentioned to my son Ken that we were going he thought it would be a good vacation for him and his family also. So we are going to have a big crowd but I know we are going to have a terrific time. So next time I write an update I will have pictures from the deck of the Royal Caribbean.
