I love Spring!

I love spring.  Everything is turning green and all the flowers are in bloom.  We have had bright sunny days and pretty blue sky and I have gone out a few times already just to sit in the sun.  And I love the nice gentle spring showers even those that can turn into raging thunderstorms and the possibility of tornadoes.  Storms have never bothered me. When I was a kid we did not have a basement or a storm cellar but we always lived next door to the church, so if there was a bad storm coming we would go over to the church to the basement and watch the storm coming in.  We would sing and play games and had the best family time.  One of my fond memories from childhood.
Last Sunday was Mother's Day. I got the most beautiful flower arrangement delivered tomy house and also a Harry and David's Tower of Treats.

I hate to brag but I have the best son of anybody I know.   After church Leonard and I drove out to see mom at Chris's.  It was a beautiful day and her place is very nice. She put out some hummingbird feeders and has so many hummingbirds buzzing around. They're really fun to watch. Mom seemed to enjoy watching them through the living room window. Chris fixed hot dogs potato salad and baked beans. She is so creative, mom can only eat pureed food so Chris. pureed the bun and put it on her plate in the shape of a hot dog bun then she puréed the hot dog and put it on top.  She puréed the potato salad and the beans.  Mom enjoyed every bite and then was scraping the plate.  Then Chris had strawberries and shortcake, she puréed mom's of course.
Once again I have agreed to help in my church in Vacation Bible School.  I will be telling Bible stories to the first-graders.  I've done that before and I really enjoyed it.  I used to enjoy teaching Sunday School to the preschoolers, 3 to 4-year-olds.  Today at church they had a special graduation service for the kids graduating from high school.  I just couldn't believe those little kids I had In Sunday School are graduating now!
It's almost time for my trip to California.   My caregiver Lori is going with me, I had thought I would drive but my siblings all convinced me that I shouldn't drive, it is just too risky, if something happened to the car along the way I can hardly just hop up into a tow truck as it towed my car in.  So I will be flying and rent a wheelchair accessible Van when I get there.  My friend Riki is getting her house ready for me.  At Ken's house all the bedrooms are upstairs and I wouldn't want to put a bed in their living room while I'm there.  I arrive July 14 and I will leave July 21. Riki is planning for a little come and go at her house on Monday, July 15.  I know that week will go way too fast but I will have lots to write about when I get home.

  5. Thank you, Beverly. I'm so glad you had a great Mother's Day. Yes, you have a wonderful thoughtful son. You are blessed to have your mother here and sister's who can meet her needs. Also, I'm so proud of you for teaching the children. There is much pride to be taken when you see 'your students' graduate, but also see them in heaven because of your witness. Your trip to California sounds very enjoyable. Have a great, safe time. I love you. Norma

  6. I am very sad, Deedy....the last two years you and Janie were here in the month of May. We have a nice spring, too, you know! Plus, we need to go back to the Chicago Botanical Gardens to see the new exhibits!
