In just a little over 10 days, Beverly is leaving Oklahoma for another adventure. With the help of her family, her next challenge is to negotiate traveling out of the country by plane and navigating the southern Caribbean by cruise ship! Janie and her daughter Alison will be accompanying Beverly on this Royal Caribbean 7-Day Cruise of the Southern Caribbean. We will fly from Tulsa to Houston at 6am Sunday morning, February 28th, change planes in Houston and board the flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico. We arrive around 4:30 and the ship sails around 8pm. We were pleased to find how accommodating the cruise line is. A wheel-chair accessible van will pick us up at the San Juan airport and take us to the ship. Our room can accommodate Beverly's wheel chair easily, has a roll-in shower with special shower chair provided, and has a balcony where we can enjoy the sunshine.
If you want to track our trip here is our itinerary. Monday: cruise all day. Tuesday: Barbados. Wednesday: St. Lucia. Thursday: Antigua. Friday: St. Maarten. Saturday: St. Croix and Sunday, March 7th, back in San Juan to fly home. One of the reasons we selected this particular cruise is the stop in St. Croix. As you know, Beverly lived in St. Croix with Mother from 2001 -2002. She worked at the hospital there and they both enjoyed spending time with Chris and Andy. She hopes to see a friend or two for lunch that day. We are not sure how wheelchair accessible the ports will be, so may spend more time enjoying the views from the ship and relaxing on board. And eating. And relaxing. And eating. And eating. (If you've been on a cruise, you know what we mean.)
We're very excited about this adventure. The thing Beverly is looking forward to the most is the sunshine! She hope to finally feel warm. Thanks for checking in. We'll post pictures when we return.
