Beverly's visit with Dr. K. went great on Wednesday, May 18th. The doctor removed the catheter that was placed through her belly button during the surgery to keep open the channel between her belly button and her bladder during the healing process. After Dr. K. removed it and ran another catheter through the belly button to the new augmented bladder, it worked exactly like anticipated! Then Beverly tried and was successful her very first time! Pauletta and Janie also tried the procedure to be sure they can assist Beverly when necessary. It will take a few months for her new augmented bladder to gain its full capacity but the process has begun and Beverly expects her quality of life to improve almost immediately.
Dr. K. wants to see Beverly one more time before we leave Chicago. Our appointment is on Thursday, May 26th and we plan to leave for Tahlequah on May 27th.
Beverly wants to let you know how much she appreciates Pauletta and Steve for turning their home to a mini-hospital suite for 6 weeks, and Janie and Gary for drive her to Chicago and cooking some great meals while here.
