This is one of my favorite times of year! Everything here is either blooming or just getting ready to. The redbud and dogwood trees are famous around Tahlequah. You should come visit me and we’ll go for a drive.
In the last blog I mentioned that Mother had fallen and broken her hip. She was in the Tahlequah hospital longer than we expected and then was admitted to the skilled nursing wing at Grace Living Center. We all had high hopes that after a few weeks of physical therapy she would be able to return to her apartment in assisted living. It looks like that will not be possible so we are dealing with the anxiety and disappointment of her remaining in the long term facility at Grace. I am trying to visit her every day with the help of my brother Leonard and Lori, my wonderful caregiver. We probably make it there at least 5 days a week. Mother still recognizes me when she sees me and even though she often seems confused, has the wonderful ability to remain happy whatever her surroundings.
This is the Mother we love!
I am again searching for another caregiver for just a couple of mornings a week. If you know of anyone, please send me their name.
I am staying busy with my church, with the children’s program every Wednesday night, my book club, my friends, PEO meetings and my computer. Do you have as many frustrations as I do with everything electronic? Dragon Speak continues to cause me problems and extra work, and recently my printer died. Thanks to Leonard and Chris for getting a replacement FREE from Best Buy and hooking up the wireless function.
My power chair continues to give me problems – or at least scares. Mobility Plus has tried to make repairs but that chair still acts up! The “tilt” function is very important in helping me relieve pressure points during my long sitting times. Well, it seems to have a mind of its own and just randomly refuses to tilt! Other times I have raised the seat to see or reach things better, and it refuses to go back down. But of course I can’t live without this chair! Medicare won’t replace it for a few more years, and it’s beginning to look like the driver has been in a few “fender benders”!
A special Thank You to my niece Susan who helps me with many things - including recently baking a cake for my PEO meeting. Also to my great nephew Levi for “detailing” my van. And, how can my grand daughter be 13 already? Time is flying by. Happy Birthday Samantha!
I am so looking forward to the warmer days that are on their way. Thank you again for your care, concern and prayers.
I love the picture of you and Mother! Did Pauletta take it? Remember, I plan to be there April 19th. Will the dogwoods still by in bloom?
ReplyDeleteDeedy, the picture of you & Pauline is just the sweetest thing I have seen in awhile! I had my cataract surgery on my right eye yesterday & will have my left eye done the 2nd of April. After I recover from that, I want to come see you. Praying for you & for your mom. Love you & cherish our friendship so very much!!

That is the prettiest picture of you and your mother, just love it, you two look so pretty and smiley. I love the springtime, but my nose gets stuffy and runny to where I tend to stay inside, look out the window at the pretty flowers and trees. I'll be coming to take you to our reunion planning meeting next Friday, the 16th. Sure hope you will be able to go. Hopefully Norma will go with us. See you then, love you Deedy! Beverly
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see you early April!

Pauletta
