We've had a few phone calls asking for an update on Beverly. How can the days be so full that we can't seem to do this more often?! Physical therapy - either at the hospital or at home - is the most important part of every day and since she has her handicap van she is much more interested in getting out and about. She tries to visit Mother at least every other day. Her physical therapist and her spinal cord doctor keep telling her it's about time she learned to drive that van herself. She doesn't think so much of that idea YET.
Beverly has certainly enjoyed her visitors during the last several days. Her friend Riki Cavanaugh from California visited for several days and they reminisced about working together at the Washington Hospital in Fremont. Beverly's nephew Stephen from Boulder came over the memorial day weekend and then another nephew Kevin from Longmont, CO spent four days with Beverly this past weekend. These two nephews (Pauletta's son Stephen and Janie's son Kevin) are great guys and love their Aunt "Deedy". It meant very much to her that they took time off from work and spent their hard earned money on plane tickets just to spend time with her.
Beverly also enjoyed attending her grand nephew Sawyer's third birthday party yesterday afternoon. His favorite Birthday card was the musical card she gave him. He kept returning to it, opening it to hear the birthday greeting, and lighting up the room with his precious smile. Sawyer is Leonard's grandson and based on his birthday gift, will be accompanying Leonard on fishing outings very soon. Sawyer will get to learn from the best!
Beverly's Maine Coon cat Deacon is finally no longer afraid of her power chair and enjoys sitting in her lap or chest. She's decided having a 20 pound cat sitting on her chest gives her a great breathing exercise.
On June 9th Beverly will have a BIG birthday! Can you say "MEDICARE"?!! Hopefully this will help with her future medical expenses. Pauletta is working very diligently on her current medical liabilities and is having some success with some of the total amounts being reduced based on Pauletta's explanation of the background of her accident. Thank you Pauletta for all your hard work! You're saving her thousands of dollars.
We so appreciate your continued concern for our sister BEVERLY! Please keep up your prayers and good thoughts.
