As we mentioned, our updates are less frequent except when we have some big news and we got some yesterday! After weeks of discussions, reports, forms and expectations, Pauletta received word yesterday that Beverly has been accepted as an inpatient at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. RIC is the "top" rehabilitation hospital in the country for people with a spinal cord injury. The program that Beverly will be participating in is called "Second Look". You can find out more about RIC by clicking on this link:

Beverly will fly to Chicago on October 15th and be admitted to RIC that afternoon. Janie will accompany her to Chicago and Pauletta and Steve will meet them at the airport. Pauletta has rented a wheelchair accessible van much like Beverly's van to transport her to RIC. We think she will be there for about 3 weeks but it could be longer. Out-patient therapy is also a possibility after that time.
Beverly has several goals she hopes to accomplish while at RIC, particularly things that will help with her daily living activities and independence.
If you wish to send her cards or letters after October 15th, the address is:
Beverly Kohl, Patient
Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago
345 E. Superior Street
Chicago, IL 60611
We're not sure if she can accept phone calls, but in case, the main phone number is
1-800-354-7342. We expect she will be on the 7th floor.
Beverly wants you all to know that Pauletta has been a "miracle worker" in getting this accomplished, as well as handling insurance claims and communications.
Thank you again for your continued prayers, letters, cards and phone calls. Beverly is determined to get her life back with your encouragement!
