Janie's first week has already come and gone! The first part of the week Beverly didn't feel well - no energy, not sleeping well, cold... She called Dr. Hobbs and asked for some additional blood work to be done and after receiving the report he reduced the dosages of two medications by half. Finally she's feeling much better! Medications are so difficult to balance and monitor and of course she feels less is better when possible. We're hoping some can be eliminated all together within a couple of months. We did make it to physical therapy twice last week and did some physical therapy at home.
On Sunday, we hurried to get ready for church and even had time to pick up Mother so she could go with us. Everyone at church was so glad to see BOTH Beverly and Mother in church. Beverly had always been the one to help Mother get to church. She would stop by early to help her get dressed and make sure she got to the right Sunday School class. This is the first time Mother has gone since Beverly's Accident so it was a special Sunday.
Today Leonard spent a lot of time exercising Beverly on the mat platform. We continue to see her shoulders, arms and trunk strengthen. She sees this also but just thinks progress comes too slowly. We ALL need to continue to encourage her for even the smallest improvements.
It's less than two weeks to the big event! On Saturday, May 9th a special benefit for Beverly's recovery fund will be held at the Tahlequah Community Center from 2pm until 8pm. This was the idea of someone who was with Beverly when she had her accident and it has been entirely organized by members of the Disaster Relief Team. It will include lots of gospel and bluegrass music, a raffle for a 32" TV, a BBQ dinner and more. (See the flyer on the first page of this website.) We were excited to see an article about this event in The Baptist Messenger (Oklahoma Baptist Newsletter) this week.
Beverly is hoping to see lots of her Tahlequah friends at the event, and has two very special friends coming all the way from California to attend!
We continue to appreciate your generous meals, your visits and your prayers. Thanks for checking on Beverly again!
