Mat Platform arrives!

Janie's first week back is passing very fast! Beverly is sleeping well, eating well, gaining more strength and her only complaint is that she is always so COLD! Well, she had good reason to be cold today. It never went above 35 degrees and even sleeted on us when we went to and from therapy. The therapist told her that wearing a cap - even indoors - would help. When we couldn't find a stocking cap in the house, Leonard brought her his down filled duck hunting cap with a bill and ear flaps. Picture Elmer Fudd. But she says she loves it! We're so ready for spring and the redbuds in the yard are blooming but it looks like cold weather all weekend.

The highlight of this week was the arrival of the Mat Platform! This will allow Beverly to have more physical therapy right here in the den! Not only will this give her more opportunity to strengthen her muscles, but will cut down some on the expense of professional therapy sessions. Leonard has been attending the therapy sessions and Rick has shown him several things he can do here at home. And of course Leonard is always thinking about adapting or creating things that will help her get stronger, like the harness for helping her balance by herself while sitting on the side of the mat platform.
The mat platform is 5ft by 7ft so you can imagine the challenge of fitting it into the den. Janie has tried about every configuration possible for the furniture and is still not satisfied. If only we could s t r e t c h the walls out a little...

Several of Beverly's friends from California are planning trips to visit her during the month of May. She is so excited about their separate visits and can't wait to see these dear friends again. She continues to get emails and good wishes from perfect strangers, thanks to all of you who has asked your friends to keep her in their prayers.
