On Tuesday around 10am Beverly was discharged from the Tahlequah City Hospital, with all of her blood tests showing much improvement . Now with new medication and more frequent monitoring, we should avoid this problem in the future. She will also be followed by her new cardiologist, Dr. Mehta. Even though she has spent all of her working hours in a hospital, it's not where she wants to be NOW. She did enjoy seeing many co-workers as well as visiting friends those 4 days but she was very happy to be back home.
This morning was her physical therapy session. Tahlequah has a van service for $1.00 each way and Beverly drives her power chair onto a powered ramp to get into the van. It's a very bumpy ride and sometimes even a little frightening, especially loading up and loading down. Leonard and Janie accompanied her and we've never seen her work so hard during therapy! She spent the therapy hour sitting on the side of the mat re-learning her balance as well as practicing rolling from one side to the other from her back. Even though she still needs a little assistance, she's come a long way!
Before we left Risenhover PT, Craig Day from Channel 6 showed up and asked if he could interview Beverly and show a little of what her time at therapy is like. So after working out very hard for an hour, she was so calm and articulate for the 20 minute interview. We think you can see this interview on Thursday, Feb. 5th, on Channel 6 News at either 5pm or 6pm. After this time you may be able to view it on http://www.newson6.com/ We certainly appreciate the interest Craig has shown in Beverly and what a great way to keep all of you informed about her progress.
We'll have therapy again on Friday morning and finally have an appointment with her new doctor, Dr. Hobbs, Friday afternoon. If you're in Tahlequah, Beverly would love an afternoon visit!
