It hardly seems possible that tomorrow is the last day of February! In Oklahoma, March signals spring (unlike back home in Chicago where we will likely have many more inches of snow) and Beverly is excited about the possibility of warmer weather. Outside her home, the jonquils and crocus are in bloom, and it is wonderful that she can get outside to enjoy them. As followers of her updates know, she just can't seem to keep her hands and feet and knees warm. But things are improving; on my last stay with her, we were using five blankets at night, and now we are down to two, with a small blanket on her feet! And she is never far from her microwavable corn bag to keep her warm, thanks to her good friend Norma.
But there are even more important changes! I am amazed at her progress during my absence. From daily routines at home to difficult workouts at physical therapy sessions, to increased appetite and good sleep patterns........the progress is impressive! We now have the routine down pat for getting into and out of the van, and what a luxury those trips to therapy are, compared to public transportation! Today after physical therapy, Steve drove us over to visit Mom, who was doing great and happy to see us. Janie is home in Arizona, but calls every day, and Chris is at home near Lake Tenkiller, but comes by almost every day to help her "big sister" out.....thanks Chris!
On Tuesday, we all traveled to Muskogee to consult with a rehabilitation specialist, Dr. Olshen. We were happy that he took a long time with us to answer our myriad of questions and we left there with realistic hopes for the future as well as lots of practical information.
Again, thank you for your loving support, your prayers, and the evening meals!
Mark your calendar for May 9 for a big event!
