Beverly is Back!

Beverly is back! After a tearful goodbye to her therapists at Jim Thorpe, Beverly headed home. With help from the Jim Thorpe crew she was secured into Chris's minivan for the 3+ hour drive to Tahlequah. Chris drove carefully while Pauletta kept making sure Beverly was comfortable. We think she even slept part of the way. Leonard had arranged for a temporary ramp to access the front steps with her power chair and she entered her home for the first time since September 17th. She will be in her home until the remodel of the apartment is completed. The remodel will give her the bathroom/shower facility she requires and easier access to cabinets, etc. The entry to the apartment has no stairs so she can come and go in her power chair without problems. We are hoping the remodel takes less than a month. If you are able to help, you can let us know through the email link here or call Beverly's home at 918-207-0707.

Pauletta is Beverly's primary caregiver for the next two weeks, then Janie will take this responsibility for two weeks, followed by Chris for two weeks. We sisters are so glad we can be there for Beverly and also feel a daunting responsibility since we're not "professionals".

Beverly says she slept well the first night in her home. She has been sleep-deprived for so long that she'll need several days to really catch up. We appreciate those of you who have volunteer to bring dinner to Beverly for the next week. This is a great help and certainly a delicious improvement over "hospital food"!

Until we find a van that is wheelchair accessible, Beverly will not be venturing out of her home. But she would still like to visit with you. Please call her home or Pauletta to be sure the time for a visit works into her schedule.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and concern for Beverly. The road to recovery is still a long one. She has regained some use of her arms and shoulders but still no movement from her chest down. Please continue your prayers that this will return.
