Dear family, friends and fans of Beverly,
It is now apparent that we must leave Jim Thorpe Rehab Hospital! We don't want to, and realize that we feel this way, at least in part, to the fear of the unknown. But, we must! As predicted, things started to happen quickly yesterday, and her "team" of therapists and doctors have decided that she is ready. So, please bear with us the next few days, if you do not see an update. We are all busy making arrangements for her return to Tahlequah.
She wants to "go home" and we want to grant her that wish. But first, we have to insure she has a safe, comfortable, accessible environment. Some of you know that our brother Leonard is heading up the renovation of her downstairs garage apartment to make it accessible. It will likely take a few weeks to complete, so after a quick family phone-meeting this morning, we have decided that a "nursing home" is NOT the place for Beverly! We have decided to take her to her home until the apartment is ready. Between all of us, we feel we can give her the home healthcare she needs, but would welcome any help you may want to offer! None of us is trained in nursing, but it is amazing what you learn to do when you love someone this much!
We are awaiting confirmation of the delivery schedule of her power chair, hospital bed and airflow mattress, Hoyer lift, roll-in shower chair, etc. If these can be delivered soon, we will likely be in Tahlequah by this weekend! As Susan continues to help with Mom (thanks Susan!) Chris will return to Oklahoma City to facilitate the transfer.
So please be patient as we make the dozens of phone calls necessary to accomplish the tasks that sometimes seem insurmountable! And then once she is settled, our priority will be to continue the necessary therapy to get her body functioning again. We will update you when possible. Please continue to pray for all of us during this journey!
