Janie arrived in time for Beverly's first physical therapy session here in Tahlequah. A local service provides transportation for wheelchair patients for only $1.00 per person each way which is the only way we have of getting around. The hour was spent with evaluation of her level of injury and current movement followed by some mat work, balancing while sitting on the side of the mat and rolling over to her stomach. She still needs some assistance with these things but we're hoping now that she'll have physical therapy for an hour three times a week she will continue to get stronger.
Pauletta and Steve left after we returned and headed for sunny Arizona for a few weeks of R&R. Pauletta had the hardest job the first two weeks at home since we were trying to figure out the routine, the medication, the transfers and hundreds of other things that were all new. Chris and Janie don't know how she did it! Now it's Janie's turn and she even appreciates Pauletta all the more! Since Mother was discharged for the hospital a week or so ago, Chris has her living with her for the time being at her home on Lake Tenkiller. Chris says this is working out well and knows this is one less thing Beverly has to worry about right now. Thank you Chris - you are amazing! Chris may need some extra help with Mother when it's Chris's turn to be with Beverly for two weeks, starting February 8th.
Last week Leonard completed the removal of Beverly's spa tub, and installed the roll in shower. It was sad for her to watch the tub going out the door on a dolly, but it will be in storage in hopes of replacement in the future! Now, Leonard is working on a sturdy ramp approach to the front door. Thank you, Leonard!
Beverly is not sleeping and not eating and we are getting very concerned, since this seems to be getting worse the last 3-4 days. We're hoping to get some advice on all of her medications which could possibly be creating or adding to these problems. Since she's not sleeping well at night she is having a hard time staying awake during the day which compounds the problem at night. I'm thinking that if she had some company in the afternoons this might help her stay awake.
Because of the possibility of an ice storm we had to cancel physical therapy tomorrow but if the weather allows we'll have our next session on Wednesday at 10:15am. She HAS to be awake for this!
Again, we so appreciate the wonderful food being delivered each evening at dinner time. This is one big thing we don't have to worry about! Keep in mind there are only 3-4 people eating so please don't expand our waists any more than they already are!
Your continued love, concern and prayers are very much appreciated. Beverly needs to know that you won't forget her!
