What a scary two days we've had! If you're in Oklahoma you know what we're talking about. If you're not in Oklahoma you've probably heard on the news about our terrible ice storm. Around noon on Tuesday branches began falling all around the house and then one of the trees split and now covers much of the side yard. Thankfully it didn't fall towards the house. (Look at the photos link.) Around 4:30 we heard cracking and green flashes and our power went off! We began to think about what we could do if it didn't come back on soon. Since the temp would get as low as 16 degrees we knew Beverly couldn't stay in the house. We were preparing to call 911 or the fire department - when the power came back on around 6pm!! What a relief - and it is still on Wednesday evening. Mother was at Chris's house when the power went off there so Chris was able to put on her chains and drive Mother here to Beverly's house about the time our power can back on - THANKFULLY!! We had a slumber party with Beverly, Mother, Janie, Chris, Nemo (her dog) and Leonard. And we had plenty to eat from the night before.

You know that Beverly's niece Alison is responsible for keeping up this website. (Thank you SO much, Alison!) She feels we are not always telling the whole story about Beverly. She thinks we must let you know that Beverly is really struggling. So... here's the current situation: She doesn't feel well; she has no energy; she has no appetite; she is nauseated; she's not sleeping at night and is very groggy during the day; she's bored; she can do very little for herself; she can't go anywhere; she doesn't feel well enough to read. She is depressed ( and WHO WOULDN'T BE!). She wants her old life back.

We're so concerned about her being able to walk again but we also know it's a possibility she'll always need her power wheelchair to get around. She wishes she felt like participating in more physical therapy, occupational therapy, breathing therapy and wishes she could get aquatic therapy, but there's just not much therapy available in Tahlequah. We're happy that Rick Risenhouver has taken Beverly for three hours a week. She was getting three or more hours a DAY at Jim Thorpe.

You know she has a wonderful, beautiful spirit. She is the most giving person we know and right now this part of her life has had to stop... at least for now. She has always been so positive and has loved life so much. It hurts to see her like this. Please continue to pray for her and help us lift her spirits!
