Most of the day was very quiet, as Beverly rested and napped due to no sleep the night before! Seems there was a mixup with the nurse concerning her p.r.n.Tylenol PM ! Oh well, that is now taken care of! She was able to do some "long sitting" exercises with Pauline, and did great with that. The speech therapists came, and Bill came and did some breathing muscle work, His visits always give us hope! She had a nice bath given by Monique (she said her best bath since coming to OU Med Center!) We had a surprise visit from her friend Linda Thornhill (she was with Beverly in Baton Rouge and was on the disaster relief team).
The best thing that happened today was that Amy-Dawn, from the Jim Thorpe Rehab Facility came by to do an assessment of her. She was very encouraging. The doctors at Jim Thorpe will evaulate her medical records on Wednesday, and determine if she is, in fact, a candidate for that facility. Of course we have high hopes that she will be accepted. We will keep you posted! Thanks for checking in.

Another major hurdle was crossed today when the doctors decided to take her off the oxygen "flow-by". She is now breathing "room air", although it is being warmed and humidified through her trach collar. After some time off all oxygen, her pulse oxygen saturation was still over 93%, and higher, which is great. Also today, the neurology department came by to take xrays of her neck, and we expect that we can discontinue the use of her neck collar during moves from the bed to the chair. All of these things should improve her chances of readiness for rehab. We are excited, but nervous about what happens next
