Beverly had a nice surprise visit today from Jody Larrison, a friend and co-worker from the ER at Tahlequah City Hospital! As Jody is also a nurse, they had a lively conversation about being a patient instead of a nurse. Pauletta just listened to the nurse-talk with amusement and interest, and really enjoyed meeting Jody. She brought a nice holiday gift from the ER staff, and now not only do we have new spa products, including "shea butter" but also some wonderful aroma therapy products.
Beverly had a bit of relaxed physical therapy in the gym today, and convinced Jim (PTA) that she could drive her power chair quite well, and could indeed negotiate the cones by coming as close as an inch without touching them! We didn't tell him that when we got back to the room, Pauletta was inadvertently pinned between the chair and the bed while Beverly pushed the wrong buttons! We laughed so hard, but needed it!
After Leonard and Jody left, Beverly said she could just not get warm, so Pauletta fixed her some hot chocolate which she loved. We spent the afternoon listening to a book on tape, doing breathing exercises, and reading short stories; the day flew by and we realized that Janie was walking through the door. Most likely, a nice shampoo and head massage are on the evening schedule!
We are anxious for Monday and the capping of her trach! Thanks for checking in!
