On September 18, 2008, Beverly Kohl was volunteering on the Oklahoma Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team in Baton Rouge, LA, following Hurricane Gustav, when she fainted after a long day’s work, and fell 5 feet to the ground below, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down.

Beverly was taken to the emergency room of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA, by ambulance after her accident. She was then admitted to ICU
