Jan said : Deedy had a pretty good night, she gave her small dose of morphine, she slightly reduced fluids (she could make urine) and that helped puffiness. Her breathing is less labored and she is doing well with the breathing assistance machine. We are at the hospital early in hopes of catching Dr. Mitchell.
(From Pauletta) As you know, the lady who was with Deedy and stayed by her side, rode in the ambulance, made the phone call, etc.....is named Becky Gates. She is a wonderful person. Last night at the 9:00 pm visitation she and another lady came to the hospital to see Deedy once again. Once visitation was over at 9:00, we were talking to her in the hallway, along with this other lady, whose name I cannot remember. The other lady said "Now your father was minister at Tahlequah, right?" I said yes and she said that one of the members of the DR group (disaster group) had mentioned that Daddy was his pastor at one time. I have not yet met that person, although Deedy obviously has, and I have to get his name.
Anyway, during the conversation, Becky mentioned that she knew a very, very dear lady from Tahlequah, and that in fact she had given the eulogy at the lady's funeral a few years ago! She asked if I had ever heard of Marguerite Sweatt Stauss !!!!!!! I stood there with my jaw dropping in a state of shock. I literally could not say a word! I knew that these people were from all over Oklahoma, but did not know Becky was from Coweta. It seems that her daughter Holly worked at the nursing home where Marguerite lived for the last five years of her life, and Holly became very very close to her. When Marguerite died, Holly was unable to give the eulogy, and asked her Mom to do it. It seems that Holly loved Marguerite so much that she begged her Mother to come and meet her, and she, too, became very close to Marguerite. When I could speak again, I told her that I was her daughter-in-law. Then her jaw dropped like mine and we just stood there in a state of disbelief! So I told her I had been married to Jim. She said of course she knew Jim and Bill Pete, and of course she knew Susan! When I told her I was Susan's mother, we both sort of broke down! (Susan, I now remember you telling me about some wonderful ladies at the funeral...and I think they even came to Marguerite's 90th birthday party) Is this unbelievable?
