Beverly woke up Thanksgiving Day in her new, larger room, having slept OK. We expected a quiet day in the hospital since it was a holiday. Buy some of her favorite people were working so others could be with their families (something Deedy always did on holidays as well). Brandi, her favorite respiratory therapist came early to begin her breathing treatments. Dr. Carlile also came by early to check out her new room and see how she was doing. Bill also was there two different times for treatments/exercises to keep her progressing towards getting into rehab.
Even though her new room (206) is bigger, there is not much wall space. But Pauletta was able to find room for most of her pictures of family, her world adventures and of course Deacon. Deedy had all three of her sisters sharing in her care on Thanksgiving.
Kevin got to town around 4:30 and when he walked into Aunt Deedy's room we saw the biggest smile from her that we've seen in a long time. Kevin couldn't stop telling her how beautiful she was and how much he loved her. Kevin also brought a gift he says was actually Alison's idea: a pair of tiny, shiny red slippers (reminding her that she WILL get home again!)
Her evening meal was the hospital's version of Thanksgiving Dinner. She is eager for Pauletta's Thanksgiving Dinner which we are sneaking in Friday.
