A Quiet Day!

Another very quiet day at the hospital, with the only activity besides nursing being the respiratory therapist Lisa coming in every so often to give breathing treatments, do CPT and check the vent settings. She agreed that we should have been able to do some 'trials" this weekend, as she totally thinks Beverly is ready. (We have had many, many respiratory therapists and they all have grown to love Beverly, and I think each one of them secretly wants to be "the one" to get her off the vent! ) But, with no written doctor orders, that did not happen. We fully expect that during rounds early Monday, we will get the word to begin the process.

Deedy was happy that Leonard came today, and he was so encouraged to see how much she had progressed since his last visit. The swelling in her feet and legs has really diminished and he noticed it immediately. When Beverly started napping, Leonard left to go check out Janie and Gary's new digs, and will return this evening when Janie comes for the evening shift.

Late morning, we had a nice visit from Norma DeHues, a dear friend in Tahlequah. They first met when they were both "new students" during their junior year in high school, reconnected recently, and have become great friends. Norma was able to watch Pauletta put Beverly through some upper body, arm and shoulder exercises (while we listened to a new CD she brought), and watch the procedures performed by the respiratory therapists.

Once again, we are hopeful that Monday will be a big day, Stay tuned!
