What a surprising day! Beverly slept pretty well in her room last night. Dr. Carlile came by early and suggested that since she is doing so well, he wants her trach to be changed out to a "cuffless" trach which will make it easier to breathe on her own and which is the first step for doing away with the trach all together! Nor sure exactly when this will happen but we expect it to be soon.

Also, the physical therapists helped Deedy with some sitting exercises and then helped her get into a wheelchair. They disconnected all of the wires which monitor her vitals and gave us a portable oxygen tank . After she was connected to it we WENT FOR A WALK! It was great to get out of a hospital room. We could only be gone about 10 minutes but walked completely around the 2nd floor. We peeked into ICU West where she had spent over 4 weeks; we looked out onto the atrium to see some fall leaves still hanging on, and showed Deedy where we would go to get better cell phone service. Janie wasn't a very good "driver" (didn't want to use the word "pusher"!) but we make the trip with no injuries. Deedy said she needed a nap after this trip around the square. She enjoyed her lunch and dinner that Pauletta sent.

"Aunt Deedy" had a great visit with nephew Stephen; Kevin came be for another visit; and around 6pm had a visit from Niece Susan, grandniece Sarah and grand nephews Luke and Levi. What a great day it was! (Check out this picture!)
