Today was a very busy day for Beverly! Even though she did not get a good night's sleep, she had to stay awake for the day's activities. The respiratory therapist tried a new technique called "cough assist" and it worked great, similulating a cough, and extracting a lot of fluid through the suction tube.

She handled it well, and it was to be incorporated into the day's therapy schedule. Then Bill arrived to do whatever it is he does (in layman's terms it is hard to describe, and in medical terms, it is impossible to describe but whatever it is he does, it works, believe me!) He brought his ace assistant Brian and introduced him to the plan for Beverly, so that he could continue the work throughout the weekend. Each day she improves, and we know that soon she will be off the vent!

Then the the therapists came to get Beverly into the chair for a couple of hours, then it was more breathing work, and right when she thought she could get in a nap, the speech therapists came to put in her speaking valve! She was fine with it for more than 30 minutes.

Beverly enjoyed a nice visit from Jayna Coppedge, from the First Baptist Church in Tahlequah. Jayna brought lots of goodies for Beverly, including movies, books, pictures, candy, a poster from the GA's, and news from home. Jayna was lucky to hear Beverly speak, as it only happens once a day for about 30 minutes! Beverly was most appreciative of the visit!

We hope Beverly rests well tonight, because tomorrow will be another big day! Thanks for checking in and your continued prayers and concern!
