Beverly is still trying to get some much needed rest. Chris spent the night in Beverly's room and said no wonder she's not getting any sleep. Chris got none. We had some drama here with the nursing staff and they have agreed to try to cluster their trips into her room especially at night so she can maybe get at least 3 hours of good rest before being disturbed again. The charge nurse even suggested that Janie and Chris were too "doting" and perhaps were keeping her awake, and shouldn't be with her so much. We rejected this suggestion and are here only to give her love and support. And a drink when she wants it, not 30 minutes after she rings her call button. Or help with scratching her nose or rubbing her eyes, when she needs it. Or to ask if she's comfortable after being turned. We will not leave her.
This morning Janie gave Beverly her facial, followed by a foot bath (a footial?). She loved them both. At lunchtime she held her tuna sandwich herself and ate about half of it, along with some pink lemonade.
Monday around 1:00pm she will get her pacemaker. This is a simple surgery which will take about one hour. She will be sleepy for a few hours afterwards. Her last drink was at midnight until after the surgery. I bet the first thing she'll ask for is a coke when she wakes up!
We are so hoping to get some word this week about her transfer to Oklahoma.
