Beverly's first full day in her new room went well, and was filled with activity! The physical therapists supported her up to a sitting position on the side of the bed with her feet on the floor as they did their range of motion exercises and she did great. They have shown us what we can do throughout the day to help with her physical therapy. Janie spent the night in her room once again and says that Beverly had a restful night. They have scheduled an imaging test early this morning to check out her swallowing, and if successful as we suspect, she will graduate today from ice chips to something real! She will be so happy for that. Yesterday she asked if she could have some coffee and we told her very, very soon.
We are anxious for the arrival of Chris (from Oklahoma) on Thursday. The hospital has provided a room for us.....one hospital bed and one couch...along with more meal tickets and parking tickets. Yesterday they brought us a portable CD player and we plan to listen to some "John Brill sermons" and perhaps a special music CD she requested yesterday. I guess she really IS tired of our singing! Steve and Pauletta are heading home Thursday for a few days and are hopeful that their next visit with Deedy will not be in Baton Rouge!
