"I..... CAN.... TALK. I.... CAN....TALK."

"I..... CAN.... TALK. I.... CAN....TALK." This is what greeted us at the 5pm visit on Thursday, along with bright eyes and a proud smile. An apparatus had been added to the tracheotomy that allow Deedy to talk a few hours each day. It is removed at night so she can rest better. When Janie told her that it had been exactly 3 weeks since her accident, and asked her how many days did it seem to her, she said "A million." When we asked about her care and how she thought it was, she said "I've got stories to tell!" We can't wait until she has the strength to really start telling those stories. Even though she can talk, it takes great energy through the tracheotomy, breathing after each word.

We were so happy to see our sister's complete face - no mask no tubes in her mouth, neck brace off for our visit. She looked wonderful, beautiful!

Pauletta is continuing to try to expedite the transfer to the Long Term Acute Care facility (L TAC) in Tulsa. The facility will not take her as long as she is on a certain blood pressure medication. She has now been weaned off that medication and we'll see how it goes for the next 24 hours.

At 9am on Friday we are having a "family meeting" with the case manager and hopefully medical personnel to assess her condition for the transfer early next week.
