Chris and Janie were with Beverly at 9am, 1pm, 5pm, and 9pm on Friday. Each time, she was resting peacefully and sleeping lightly. She was always aware when we were there and occasionally opened our eyes for us, and would nod responses when we asked her questions. While we NEVER met with the surgeon, Dr. Mitchell, (we were told he was in surgery until 9pm), we did meet with his PA. He answered some of our questions and others can only be answered by Dr. Mitchell. We have been told that a tracheotomy will need to be preformed on Beverly before she can be safely transferred to Tulsa. Two important questions are how soon can she have the trach and how soon can she be moved after that.

We asked the PA if the neck brace could be removed for 10 minutes or so during each of our visits and he responded, YES!! (why didn't we think to ask this before??) So, at 9pm, the nurse removed it and Beverly was SOOO pleased and relieved to have it off even for a little while. Also, the circulation pads that had been around her legs have been removed, so we can more easily massage her legs when we are visiting and she is loving that also.

Pauletta and Steve will arrive today and Janie will be leaving Sunday for a few days of rest. She hopes the next time she sees Beverly will be in Tulsa, next Thursday or Friday.
