We had hoped that Deedy would be moved to the respiratory wing today, but we must wait for a bed to become available. We were told that she is first on the list. Maybe it will happen on Monday. Three times today Deedy had "trials" with the speaking valve (it's a Passy Muir Valve). Each time she worked for over 30 minutes before tiring. We had some good laughs with her today and many times she broke out with the biggest smile! At the 10am visit she was really ready to talk, and her voice is still quite monotone. We reminded her of the expected procedures for her transfer and she responded with "Let's get this show on the road!" We explained that among other things we were working on the airplane transportation, and she said "Let's just go ahead and drive... now!" As you see, she is very eager to return to Oklahoma.

She was able to have ice chips, a few sips of water and even a few small bites of that orange sherbet she loves so much. We saw more smiles when we were able to offer her this.

We will meet with the Case Manager again tomorrow and hope to know more about her transfer. We'll let everyone know as soon as we hear more about this. Thanks to John Land, Deacon of Southwood Baptist Church and a member of the Disaster Relief Team and others who have offered Deedy's out-of-state family places to stay in Tulsa. We hope to take you up on these offers soon.
