Tracheotomy a success!

The tracheotomy performed at 1:00 today by Dr. Nuss was a total success! She looks great without all those tubes down her mouth and throat. All vital signs are good and the only thing keeping us from being accepted at the LTAC (Long Term Acute Care) at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa is her blood pressure. She is still on Levephed (to raise her blood pressure, which is low due to the sedatives) but as we understand it, as her sedation is reduced, her need for Levephed lessens. So we are hopeful that in the next day or so, her blood pressure will be fine with no meds. But, until that happens, the Continuous Care facility, will not accept her. We are hopeful that changes tomorrow! We were hopeful the transfer would occur Friday, but if it doesn't, then certainly a couple of days after that.
