We have a very good day today (Tuesday). Deedy stayed on "pressure support" for over three hours. This means she was initiating all the breaths on her own, and she didn't get tired and kept the number of breaths around 20 per minute which is excellent. She is still on the ventilator but the setting can allow her to initiate breaths and it is only a backup. Also this afternoon she sat up in a chair in her room for a couple of hours. This was very significant. Moving her into and out of the chair was challenging but we did it! (With the help of about 5 nurses). Deedy's niece Alison arrived at the airport from Denver. She'll be here until Friday. She brought Deedy homemade lemon pound cake and we all had a slice, and shared it with her Respiratory Therapist David and her nurse Lana.

Janie and Alison left the hospital for dinner and brought Deedy back a hot fudge sundae and she enjoyed several bites.

The cardiologist came by and said everything looks good with the pacemaker and the pulmonary doctor said her lungs seem to be getting better also. We are hoping all the doctors will agree that she is stable enough for transfer. She can't wait!
